Creatures & Characters Post-It-Note Drawing Activity - John Kenn Mortensen Inspired

(0)
This set of lessons is a 1-2 week KS3 (11-14) plan on the artist John Kenn Mortensen, as part of the theme ‘Creatures and Characters.’ Originally taught over 2 x 50 minute lessons, it could easily be shortened to one lesson with additional homework. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Lesson 1 Students are required to discuss what types of nightmares scare children and then devise a scene by sketching out characters and ideas. Lesson 2 Create a nightmare scene, in the style of Mortensen, on to a post-it-note / sticky note. You could also draw a post-it-note sized shape in to sketch books, but I found that students really loved drawing on to sticky notes. Equipment needed: post it’s, pencil, black biro or fine liner. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Each lesson starts with an introduction slide to add your own information about what was previously completed and the content of todays lesson, as well as blank learning objectives section on each slide. KS3 Whole Class Feedback Form
jfello1jfello1

KS3 Whole Class Feedback Form

(0)
This download is a whole class feedback form, for giving feedback to KS3 students. It is aimed at art teachers but could easily be adapted for other lessons as the feedback areas are quite generic. As an art teacher you often find that students across a class or year group have the same misconceptions or struggle with the same techniques. Rather than giving feedback individually, turn this into a feedback lesson; discuss what students have done well, areas of improvement, common misconceptions and next steps. I also use to like highlighting a few students who had worked well on the form as a further discussion point as to what they did well! Add your own slides of completed work to accompany this. There is also a box for ‘key words’ which can be used as extra revision within the lesson. The Power Point is editable, and once the feedback has been added it could be printed as an A4 or A5 handout to be kept in student sketchbooks. Students can then highlight areas of development that they recognise as being important to them. Your download consists of: A one slide editable Power Point A printable PDF Save yourself hours of time, by switching to whole class feedback. Accompany this feedback slide / handout with my evaluation sentence starter prompt.
Weekly Art & Design Task Planner for GCSE / A Level / Foundation

Weekly Art & Design Task Planner for GCSE / A Level / Foundation

(0)
This weekly art task planner is aimed at students working towards any art based qualification where a final piece or exam based project is required. This resource could also be used for DT or Photography projects. I created this resource when I was completing my Art Foundation and I needed to track my progress and keep a log of what I needed to complete each week. I then adapted this template to use within my own teaching of GCSE Y10 and Y11 classes as well as A Level art. It really helped students to focus on how much time they had left as well as what they needed to complete each week. I found a daily timetable too complicated and preferred to plan out what I could achieve each week, but this download includes a daily and a weekly printable template. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Your PDF download comes with two versions: A Weekly Calendar starting from Jan 24 to Jun 24 and has 7 Days per page (25 pages in total) for students who like to plan daily. And… A Six Week Calendar with 6 weeks per page, Starting Jan 24 - Jun 24 (5 pages in total) for students who like to plan in less detail and have a termly over view. A4 size to print Can be enlarged to A3 to allow room for writing. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ If you find my resources useful, then please leave me some feedback. OCR Level 3 Cambridge Technical Art & Design Unit 20 Exploring Digital Photography template. (2012)

(0)
OCR Level 3 Cambridge Technical Art & Design Unit 20 Exploring Digital Photography template. (2012 Series) This powerpoint is an annotated workbook that teachers can use to develop their unit 20 course content or for students to use as a workbook to create their unit 20 coursework. The powerpoint consists of 51 slides taking students through all the key components of what is needed to meet the assessment criteria of this unit. All of the images within the powerpoint are stock images that try to represent the style of image that is required by the student where ever possible. Each section prompts the student to analyse and use their own images to meet course objectives. Use alongside the OCR assessment and grading criteria so that students have a clear idea of how to work towards pass, merit or distinction. This powerpoint is fully editable and I would encourage editing of text and stock images to ensure indivduality of slide layout and theme. Using the ‘designer’ feature within powerpoint will ensure consistancy of theme.

Kurt Jackson Tonal Worksheet

Kurt Jackson Tonal Worksheet

(0)
This resource combines two A3 worksheets exploring the artist Kurt Jackson. It is suitable for KS3 or KS4 students. The worksheets use the work of Kurt Jackson to explore tone, shade, contrast and chiaroscuro. Students are required to complete a tonal value scale using the boxes at the bottom of the page. I have recently updated the download to combine the two versions of this worksheet together. The activity task remains the same, but the first sheet provides information on the artist and the second requires students to research the artist using four prompt questions. This download is perfect as a starting point for exploring the work of Kurt Jackson, explaining tonal range or as a cover lesson resource. It was originally designed by myself for a demo lesson for one of my PGCE training interviews. Can be printed as A3 or A4. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ You might also find this resource on artist research a useful compliment If you find my resources useful, then please leave me some feedback. Art Sketchbook Insert

(0)
This resource is a handy art sketchbook insert to be stuck into the front cover and first page of a new sketchbook. It is designed to help students keep their sketch books tidy and organised. My favourite student sketch book was discontinued and I loved the inside cover page! It allowed students to log assessment dates and targets as well as a handy section for remembering keywords and their definitions. So I decided to design my own, keeping the bits that I found useful as an art teacher. This handy reference reminds students of sketchbook expectations as well as the 7 elements of art and the colour wheel. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Print it on to an A3 sheet and then fold it to fit an A4 sketchbook or print smaller on to A4. Saved as a PDF, it includes crop marks if you want to reduce the size for sticking in. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ If you like this resource, then you might also like my KS3 sentence starter prompt sheet, to help students write in full sentences in their sketch books. Picasso Christmas Bauble Art Based Activity

This Picasso Christmas Bauble resource is aimed at KS3 (11-14) art students but it could be used with upper KS2 too! As this is a 3D based task to create a triskele bauble, it might also be useful in a DT lesson or as an after school activity.
